ADRN will be posting several new volunteer opportunities through December 2012 to help rebuild homes in Bastrop and Spicewood.  Over the next year, we will need hundreds of volunteers and church groups to help.  ADRN is also encouraging volunteers to raise up volunteer teams to join us in this rebuilding effort.  If your volunteer group would like to be placed on the ADRN Volunteer Calendar for future volunteer rebuilding opportunities, please email admin@adrntx.org.  Thank you!

Monday, 6 PM - 10 PM
HAM Radio Training - Technician License (Course Time: 16hrs): Join ADRN's HAM Radio team by taking the beginner's course for a HAM Radio license. Why HAM radio? In a disaster, often other modes of communication (cell phones, landlines, etc.) become overwhelmed and become unavailable. In a disaster (such as the Bastrop Fire), government agencies have the ability to devote existing communications service to Government Emergency Telecommunications Service use. That means 90% of the system is locked out from general use. HAM radio is the link that keeps ADRN teams in contact with the call center, and provides a way for victims to get word to families out of the area. The Technician Class license allows operator privileges on both VHF and UHF repeaters located throughout the Greater Austin Area. Also, morse code is no longer required to pass the exam! HAM radio is fun and can be a powerful tool for the Body of Christ to help those in need in times of disaster. Suggested donation is $60. Training location TBD. Training dates will be Feb. 6th, 8th, 13th & 15th from 6PM-10PM.

THIS CLASS IS SOLD OUT. To be on our backup list, please email us at admin@adrntx.org.
